Meet the Maker
I have a Fine Art degree specialising in sculpture, which gave me an early foundation in form, proportion and composition. After some years away from making I needed to find my way back to something creative. In 2017 I walked into a pottery night class in Chester, touched clay for the first time and knew immediately it was what I’d been looking for.
I went onto complete a two year ceramics course at Warrington & The Vale Royal College in Winsford, one day a week and haven’t stopped making since.
I make things I want to use myself. Everything in the Organics Collection lives in my own kitchen first. I’m drawn to functional work that’s contemporary and considered, designed to feel at home in a well thought out interior. Making is also, for me, a meditative process. The rhythm of it as important as the result.
I work from a small studio at the bottom of my garden in Chester, surrounded by nature. I’m not a fast maker. Each batch is small and considered, made slowly and with care rather than rushing to produce more.
Alongside my studio work I’ve taught pottery at a local primary school for seven years, working with children from prep to year 6 throughout the school year. I also run an after school club and a week class for their parents. Sharing the joy that clay gives me with other people, whether that’s a child making something for the first time or a parent finding a couple of hours of clam in a busy week is one of the best parts of my week.
